My Secret For A Successful Day With Gordmans

Being a mama is one tough job, but when you also juggle motherhood while running a home business, things can get pretty interesting.  I get asked all the time how I manage to get anything accomplished when my girls are around (which is 95% of the time) and here’s my answer – be an early riser.  I’ve learned that the only way I can have a productive and successful day is to start it early before my girls wake up.  I started doing this in January as part of my self-care mantra for 2018 and what a difference it’s made!  Who knew this small change would have such a positive impact on my daily outlook and parenting skills with my girls. Today I’m sharing 5 Things Every Boss Babe Should Do for a Successful Day and how Gordmans is helping me accomplish that in the most affordable and stylish way.

But really, you know I love coffee and since I’m waking up earlier now, this is a MUST for me.  Plus, it’s a nice little treat to start the day off right. I love sipping on something warm in the morning and this insulated bottle is perfect for keeping my coffee hot. The scripture of Joshua sold me on it.  It’s a nice reminder to be strong and courageous in whatever I do each day because He is always with me. I’m also a huge sucker for flowers and always try to keep fresh blooms in my office. They give my desk an instant facelift and let’s be honest – they’re refreshing and so pretty to look at!  This gold vase is the perfect accent for my desk decor. I’ve even used it as a makeup brush holder.  Just fill it with rice, beads or coffee beans to hold your brushes in place.

HAVE A GAME PLAN: Ever heard the saying “failing to plan is planning to fail?”  Well, it’s absolutely true.  I used to start my days without any clear vision of what I wanted to accomplish and guess what. I got very little done. On top of that, it left me feeling anxious and rushed all the time which affected my relationship with my girls. By making lists and prioritizing agendas, I was able to schedule my day without feeling completely overwhelmed.  I even use this time to send out emails, reply to messages, and work on blog posts. PUT YOUR BEST FACE FORWARD: Even if it’s a quick 5-minute makeup application, I just feel more put together when my hair and makeup are done.  With working from home, it’s SO easy to fall into the yoga pants, top bun, and no makeup look.  While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, I’ve found that when I put more effort into getting ready each day, I naturally get into the mindset of GSD (aka getting stuff done). Plus, I just feel more confident when I look presentable.  This Adrienne Vittadini makeup bag set holds all my makeup + some. I actually took the large bag with me during our California trip and it was the best thing ever! It held all my makeup, skincare products, and hair accessories.  I usually toss the smaller bags in my purse to keep everything nice and tidy.

GET OUT & EXPLORE:  Being a WAHM, most of my daily interaction is with a 2 and 5 year old. Can you imagine the conversations we have about Dora Explorer and Little Einsteins?  Deep stuff, guys.  That’s why I make it a point to get out 1-2 times a week for some real adult interaction.  Have coffee with a friend, connect with local businesses, venture to new places for inspiration, or find a new spot to call your office for the day.  Just get out and connect with the outside world.  That’s the only way you’ll grow as a human and business owner! Earlier this week, I met with my girlfriend for lunch and it was so good to catch up. We even bounced ideas off each other which got our creative juices flowing. I wore this pink moto jacket I also got from Gordmans that was only $20.  It gave my outfit the perfect little pop of color for Spring.  I’m all about blush tones and ivories right now and can’t wait to rework this into my other outfits for the season.

I am SO excited that Gordmans will be opening their 59th store in Rosenberg, TX next Thursday, March 22nd! This is the ONLY Gordmans store in Texas so it’s kind of a big deal!
