PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT: She doesn’t visit the doctor for another week so I guessed/measured for the time being: Height: 34 in. (95% percentile) | Weight: 26.5 lbs. (75% percentile) | Head Circumference: 19.25 in. (90% percentile)
She is moving nonstop and it’s almost impossible to get a good picture of her nowadays- ugh. She has 12 teeth and 1 more peeking through as we speak. I hope it comes out soon because she has been a drooling fool lately.
CLOTHING: She still fits in 12-18 months, but most of her outfits are 2T | Shoes are 6.5 or 7 (depending on the brand) | Still wearing size 4 diapers
SCHEDULE: Her eating and sleeping schedule is still the same, but I have noticed she is drinking less milk (about 18oz. a day now) which is still within the normal range. With that being said, can we talk about the 18-month sleep regression and how NO ONE told me about this? Holy bananas. At 17 ½ months, she had a few CRAZY nights of separation anxiety from me, multiple night wakings, and resistance to her naptime/bedtime schedule (which has NEVER happened before). She threw a fit when it was time to put her into her crib and nothing would console her. It got so bad that I had to sleep on the floor of her room just so she would sleep. Luckily, it only lasted for a few nights and I was able to get her back to her routine before she got “too comfortable” with seeing me in her room at night. Here are a few things that helped us get back on track:
(1) I shut everything down 1 hour before her bedtime, played calming music or read to her, kept reminding her about her bedtime routine (to prepare the inevitable was coming – haha)
(2) I placed a couple bears in her crib to comfort her.
(3) I stayed consistent and firm about sleeping time and once she realized she would NOT be sleeping with us or staying up to play, she gave up on the tantrums and cray cray-ness. ๐
EATING: I am happy to say that she is completely off the bottle and now only uses her sippy cup, straw cup, or regular cup ๐ She still likes her usual stuff (from the last post) and has been better with eating her meats so I don’t have to cut them into teeny tiny bites, but they are still fairly small.
OTHER ACTIVITIES: This girl loves to clean. If I give her a baby wipe, she will use it to clean the mirror, detail her car, tidy up her kitchen, and clean her chairs. LOL She is getting really good at navigating my phone – so crazy! She can find the picture gallery and swipe through the pictures and press play for the videos…and she loves to watch them over and over again.
EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Oh emotions emotions…where do I even begin? So, I can confidently say that Marli has started her Terrible Two’s a little early. The things that she didn’t mind doing before (sitting in a shopping cart, brushing her teeth, changing her diaper, etc) have become a little bit of a struggle now. She’s got to fight me (even if it’s just a little bit) so she “has a voice/opinion” about it. Haha ok…I pick my battles with her and after a minute or two, she’s over it. I will say that she DEFINITELY knows when she’s wrong for disobeying me/doing something she shouldn’t because when I give her the silent treatment or give her my “you hurt my feelings” look, she will come over and say “I sawww” (meaning “I’m sorry”) and either give me a kiss or hug.
WHAT’S NEXT: We are working on more vocabulary words, colors, shapes, and the alphabet. I am HOPING to start potty training in the next month, but will look for cues that she’s ready to do so.

Oh my gosh! I can’t believe so many of things in your update were SPOT.ON with Kaitlyn too! The few days of separation anxiety, sleep/nap issues, ugh we went through it too. It was so tough after such a long period of easier sleeping. And OK, you have reassured me Kaitlyn’s feet aren’t too huge. She’s about to move into size 6, but my GF’s 3 y/o wears 7s, so I thought Kaitlyn must have huge feet. lol.
Wow! I can’t believe how many words Marli can say and understand, apologizes, etc. And the potty training! I need to step up our lesson plans! ๐ I’ve been putting K on the potty a few times each week since she turned one, but never has she gone. I’m going to order a seat for the big toilet and see how that goes. Can Marli get off the seat by herself on the big toilet?

Hey girl! No, she can’t get off the toilet by herself yet. I haven’t given her the mini toilet and we’ve only used the seat because she loves elmo ๐
