Growing up, I was extremely close to the women in my life – my mom, my aunt, and my grandmother. Through good times and a few bumpy ones, their love for me never wavered. Still to this very day, they never cease to amaze me how loving, supportive, patient, and generous they are. They have taught me so much about myself and the woman I strive to be each and every day.
GOD’S LOVE : My grandmother is a woman of God and she has made it her life’s mission to instill that on her children. I want Marli to know that ALL things are possible through God. I hope for her to know that He is and will always be there for her.
BEAUTY: My grandmother is over 80, but looks like she’s in her late 60s/early 70s. She looks amazing. But more importantly, her soul is beautiful. She is so warm and compassionate…and oh so wise. A smart woman is a beautiful woman ๐
STRENGTH : My mother is the epitome of a RAWR. When the world is crumbling around her, SHE is the one who finds strength to bring the family together. Even if she is struggling, she puts her needs aside for others.
WITTINESS : My mother has some major street smarts. She is a quick thinker and oh so witty. I can tell Marli is already like that.
CHARACTER : I’ve never met a person who didn’t like my mother. She’s a straight shooter and is a woman of integrity. She’s honest and so easy going. I think she must’ve been the girl in school that talked to EVERYONE, even the shy and nerdy ones like me.
BIG HEART: I love my aunt to the ends of the earth. She’s the youngest of the bunch and has one of the biggest hearts I know. She cries on a whim, but that’s why I love her so. She wears her heart on her sleeve 150% of the time and is always the first to lend a helping hand.
FUN : My aunt is always willing to try new things and loves getting out and about. Growing up, she would often babysit me and we’d have so much fun together. She was the first one who let me try on mascara, taught me how to properly scoop ice cream and wrap presents, and let me watch New Kids on the Block AND The Little Mermaid ON REPEAT. I wonder what memories Marli will remember when she gets older. Maybe all the kisses her Godmother gives her ๐

What a beautiful post. I am also very close to the women in my family. My sister is my best friend, my mother is everything to me, my aunt is that independent and strong woman that inspires me, and my grandmother has kept us grounded and aware of our roots.
I really love how this post made me think of them.
