Last week threw me for a loop. My husband was out of town for four days and I was feeling under the weather which didn’t make things any easier. Up to this point in my training, I think last week was by far my laziest week yet. Boo! I only worked out 3 days and I’ll be honest, I didn’t really push myself too hard. Instead of overdoing it, I listened to my body and got the rest I needed. Sometimes you need a few days off to regroup and re-energize. Now, I feel better than ever and ready to kick some a** for the home stretch. 37 days left until Marli’s BIG OH-ONE.
While it wasn’t a SUPER productive week, I did find a SUCCESS I was able to celebrate. This mama RAWR completed TEN REAL pushups!!!! I can’t remember the last time that happened….it’s been years. Woo-freakin’-whooo!!! Every success, big or small, should be celebrated so pat yourself on the back if you accomplished something awesome this week.
The only photos I took were of my little BB guns ๐ Getting stronger everyday and loving how my back/shoulder muscles decided to finally make their appearance. I hope they stay awhile.
It is a DAILY (and I MEAN DAILY) battle for me to workout. I love doing it…once I’ve actually gotten started, but it’s the “getting started” part that’s difficult. And, Mondays are THE WORST! How about you? Since I know myself so well, I’ve LITERALLY fool-proofed a way for me to NEVER have an excuse to miss a workout or fall off. Like ever. Here’s my list:
(1) PACK MY WORKOUT CLOTHES – If I have my clothes with me, there’s no need to run home and “change” – aka getting home, eating a snack, and taking a 2 hr long cat nap.
(2) NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT MY WEIGHTS – In my car, you will always find at least 1 pair of dumbbells so I can get in a workout where ever I’m at. No excuses!
(3) PLAN MY MEALS – eating clean is 80% of the work! Last week, I didn’t plan my meals like I usually do and it sucked. I felt so unprepared, hungry, and then hangry…not good. Planning/prepping healthy meals ahead of time means you are constantly fueling your body with good nutrients.
(4) CREATE AN INSPIRATION BOARD – Pinterest is my crack. Create a fitness board of things, people, and sayings to motivate you! Here are my current celebrity crushes:
(6) HAVE A BUDDY - I’ve been running with a friend on Saturday mornings and I love it! Having a buddy holds you more accountable and it builds a support system to reach your goals. The other times, my buddy is Marli :) We push each other and in Marli’s case, I push her (literally). haha
(7) LOOK GOOD - Hey, it doesn’t hurt to look half decent when you’re working out. Chances are, if you look and feel comfortable in your clothes, you’ll feel more confident working out. ๐
(8) TREAT YOURSELF – It’s ok indulge in moderation so don’t feel guilty about it if you do.
(9) REVAMP YOUR PLAYLIST – Getting some new tunes definitely helps me.
(10) RECORD YOUR PROGRESS – So important. You don’t know how far you’ve come unless you write down where you’ve been. Plus, it’s cool to see the upward slope of AWESOMENESS!
What do you guys do to keep from falling off the workout routine?

Awesome post Linh! Good idea about packing your clothes to take with you and having some weights in the car. Keep up the great job!

Thanks Sally. Taking my clothes with me saves so much time from driving to/from home. Can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner.

Awww don’t feel guilty. A little here and there is fine. But that means you’ll need to work out hard tomorrow! ๐

Look at those guns ๐
I struggled with getting sick about a week and a half ago, so I know how that can throw off a routine— but that actually has been one of my successes: I didn’t let that throw me off my game! As soon as I was feeling better I was back working out.
Next focus is food— Typically I eat very clean, but I indulge in a bit too much chocolate a couple days there (that is the problem with me allowing it in our home!), but after we get back from our vacation I will make sure to plan food so that I am not asking my husband to run out and pick up some things at the grocery store (which is when the junk gets brought in)…
Congrats on making it this far and thank you for the inspiration!
