Another success to celebrate – this one wasn’t on my 2014 Goals List, but hot damn I am excited to share it with you guys! THIS happened at the gym yesterday. Yup, I lift, bro. 🙂 I am SUPER sore today, but it feels so good.
So, here’s an update on my progress. I feel AWESOME! The energy level is off the charts and I am feeling stronger every day. I’ve increased my weights on EVERY workout and I think mountain climbers are starting to grow on me…maybe. I’m definitely gaining more and more muscle definition by lifting heavy. Ladies, you will NOT bulk up! You will lean out so don’t be afraid to push heavy weights. Below is my Day 1 Photo for you guys to see how far I’ve come. HOOORAY!
Each exercise is performed for 4 minutes – 20 seconds of all out intensity followed by 10 seconds of rest. Here are a few tips:
- Make sure you have good form! You want to execute each move as fast as possible but NOT at the risk of compromising your form/technique.
- Don’t be a wuss! Pick a weight that will challenge you! If you can’t perform an exercise with that weight the entire time, it’s OK! Do as many rounds as you can, then drop the weight down. (Example: When I perform squat thrusters, I use 2 x 10 lb. weights for 4 rounds, then drop it down to 2 x 5 lb. weights for the remaining 4 rounds. OR When I perform walking lunges, I use 2 x 15lb. weights for a 4-5 rounds, then no weights for the remaining rounds.) It is better to do this than to go the entire 8 rounds at a “moderate” pace/intensity.
- In between each exercise, I take a 1-2 minute break depending on the exercise. I make sure to keep my heart rate elevated to keep the “cardio” momentum going. Catch your breath and grab a quick drink of water.
- Remember to stretch afterwards!!! And SMILE! You survived!!! 🙂
Squat Thrusters
Squat Jumps OR Alternating Lunge Jumps* (*if you’re feeling EXTRA ambitious)
Walking Lunge w/ Bicep Curl
Mountain Climbers

WOW you really are making progress!! I do yoga. Unfortunately due to health issues I can over use my abdominal muscles, it is a good thing I am thin!

Thanks Virginia! Thank my hubby for getting me addicted to Tabata.

Thanks Joshua! Just incorporate core exercises into your workout. Activating your ab muscles in everything you do also helps me.
