Lovelies, how is your week going? Are you excited for March to arrive? I haven’t had much time to blog or visit my favorite sites since Monday night. Poor Marli has been teething and it’s been a rough 48 hrs. We’ve been up since 330am pacing the house, singing her favorite songs, and finding other ways to distract her. Her bottom 2 teeth came with no problem, but these top 2 are giving her a lot of pain. Any mommies out there have any tips for me besides the iced towel and teething toys?
With that being said, mama is feeling a little run down and I know exactly what would make me feel better – a visit to the salon! I’ve been wanting to do the ombre look for a while now, but kept putting it off. I haven’t colored my hair in YEARS, but with Spring coming, I would love to lighten up and do something different. Love these colors on Kate, Jessica, and Lily I pinned to my Pinterest board.
Are any of you currently sporting this fab hairstyle or want to try it out? I am pretty excited to see my new locks – before and after pics to come next week! Here are a few tips/suggestions if you’re considering it:
- Go Gradual: If you’re a newbie to the ombre hairstyle, it is suggested that you only lighten 1-3 shades from your root color. As you return for touch ups, you may then gradually get lighter colors. This is also called “graduating.”
- Like A Virgin: If you have virgin hair (meaning no chemicals treatments/dye colors), it will be much easier to obtain the color you want. Otherwise, the stylist will have to do some color correcting first.
- Less Touch Ups: The ombre look requires less maintenance which is a HUGE plus!
- Sunshine Kissed Hair: This style is great for adding life to your hair. Love the color contrast and added highlights. Make sure to pick a shade that compliments your skin.

oh how I love these looks! I have never dyed my hair, but after seeing Courtney Kerr’s gorgeous color, I have had the itch to color mine! we’ll see how long it takes me to actually do it though 😉
hope your daughter feels better soon!

Hey Sandy, You can always go really subtle and gradually lighten it up if you want. Thanks for visiting doll!
Uggh — we are still in our 5 tooth teething hell as well (3 molars and both lower lateral teeth). It is exhausting. And unfortunately, I don’t have any amazing solutions!
All that to say, the ombre look is beautiful. I haven’t colored my hair in years, but if I were to, this would be the look I’d pick!!
i LOVE these pretty ombre looks! i can’t wait to see how it looks on you if you decide to go for it! xo jillian
