Last Saturday, we celebrated Marli & Lydia’s One Year Birthdays and the girls had such a great time. We hosted the party at our house with a sweet nautical / sailor theme and I wanted to share a few photos with you all. We dressed the girls like twins in this super cute sailor dress from H&M. Ahoy mates!
I stayed up until 5am that morning prepping the food, decorating the table and completing small DIY projects to personalize the party. So. Much. Fun. I think it was more from excitement than anything else ๐ I took the girls’ baby photos and made a huge number “1” sign as their backdrop for the smash cake photos. Actually, instead of a cake, I got 2 gigantic cupcakes for them which was perfect. I also made their birthday banner which took a lot longer than expected, but it turned out pretty good :) As for the table signs, I attempted to make them into sailboats…but of course the girls noticed, but the guys had no idea what it was. Sigh. Haha!
For the food, the party was from 11am-2pm so it was a perfect time for LUNCH! I made some easy appetizers for our guests to nibble on while my husband grilled up some wings and ribs. So delicious! We also catered a few things as well which were a huge hit.
I wasn’t able to take too many pictures from my camera, but my family did so I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the photos. But, here are a few very important people (VIP) in her life and a great picture of the babies and us mamas. I like how she has a different facial expression in every picture. ๐
And, the moment we were all waiting for….smash (cup)cake time! Marli isn’t a big fan of soft squishy things so it was funny to see her poke (carefully) at the cupcake. Still, I’m sure she was happy to make a mess and not hear mama or daddy say “no” to that.
Marli’s cousin, Lydia, was a bit sleepy but quickly woke up after she saw cake. Yum! Such a sweet little girl ๐

This looks like such a sweet party — and the girls look adorable in their little outfits!! I’m new to your blog, so I don’t know the background. Are they cousins?? My sister and I had babies 3 days apart, so we’re doing a joint first birthday for them, as well in a month. I can’t wait!
