Angled Long Bob | Before + After

I finally did it.  During Marli’s nap last week, I decided to give my hair a little trim.  Well, my “trim” turned out to be 12 inches (plus another 6 inches after visiting the stylist yesterday to get the exact hairstyle I wanted) and now I feel as light as air 🙂  I thought I was going to be so nervous taking almost 18 inches off, but I welcomed it with open arms.  While I loved my long tresses, I was ready for a more fun and edgier look for 2015 and I think I found it with this hairstyle.

I scoured hundreds of photos for inspiration and absolutely LOVED these:

The angled long bob is the perfect “faux” short hairstyle for those wanting a short cut (like me) but who’s face shape may not work best with the traditional bob (like me).  It takes on a longer length in the front, but the back can be subtly or drastically shorter (depending on your preference).

And here’s the AFTER photo after visiting my stylist the other day:

As you can see, the front layers are much longer, but the back is barely touching my shoulders!  She wanted to go shorter, but I kindly declined.  She thinned my hair out A TON and added a few soft layers in the back. I will probably ask for shorter stacking layers in the back next time for more texture. So happy with the results and can’t wait to try some beach waves the next time I wash my hair.  I’ll try to post some photos of it, although I’m not sure how will it’ll show up since I don’t have any highlights in my hair.

If you’re thinking of getting a bob or long bob, take a look at your face shape to help determine the best style for you.  Do you know what shape you have?

ROUND FACE: Go for a long bob, a-line bob, or inverted bob // avoid a lot of volume on sides because it only adds onto your face // layering around the face helps soften the look

LONG FACE: Anything between the chin and shoulder to create a fuller face // chin-length bob is the best! // soft waves compliments this face well

SQUARE FACE: Go for a long bob with some added layers for softness // avoid blunt cuts because they will make you look more boxy

OVAL OR HEART-SHAPED FACE: Basically you look good with any hairstyle 🙂

    Your hair looks awesome! I’ve been growing my hair out for almost 2 years from a super short pixie cut and now I’m too attached to even get it trimmed haha. I love the pictures you shared too!
