Old Hollywood Glam Inspired Look

Over the weekend, we attended my cousin’s wedding and had such a great time.  Marli came with us and although she was really overwhelmed at first, she eventually warmed up and was dancing by the end of the night 🙂 (This was her first time at a wedding so it was definitely a learning experience for all of us. ha!)

Anyways, I started this post LAST Monday but didn’t have time to finalize it so now it’s turned into a weekend recap. LOL  If you follow my Instagram, then you saw this photo I posted last week of the dress I scored at Marshalls.   I originally went in to look for some decor pieces for our newly renovated laundry room (future post to come on that!), but scored this amazing dress for $70 AND a matching blush/gold dress for Marli for less than $20.  

Aside from the bridesmaid dress I wore for my friend’s wedding back in August, I don’t typically purchase dressy clothes anymore so you can imagine my excitement when I found this dress!  I wish it came in more colors – I would have purchased one of each 🙂 I paired it with some nude ankle strappy shoes, a dainty gold heart necklace, and dangly gold earrings – all things I already owned in my closet.

As for my hair, I have always LOVED the Old Hollywood Glam look.  There’s something so beautiful, classy, and timeless about it and that was exactly the look I was going for.  With my new recent hairstyle change, I knew I wouldn’t be able to achieve the look without professional help so I booked an appointment at Sensia Studio and Japanese Day Spa. I worked with Joel who was wonderful!  I wasn’t sure I would be able to create one of the styles below, but he worked his magic and made it happen 🙂  
I also booked a makeup appointment for my mom and the artist was so sweet, accommodating, and patient.  I think they did a good job, but I’m not sure I would use this service again (only because I was expecting them to use the airbrush makeup technique).  I would definitely go back for a hair appointment though 🙂 Below are some images I pulled from Pinterest for my inspiration. (I especially LOVED the top middle look.)
I forgot to take pictures of the back, but there was a nice wave throughout my hairstyle.  Because my hair was on the shorter side, he put A TON of hairspray in it, but some of it fell by the time we arrived at the reception which was perfect because it gave me a little more movement.
Here’s a quick selfie before heading out the door.  (Excuse the doggie beds in the background :/) I did my own makeup…tried some contouring which was almost comical because I am no makeup expert.  I think it turned out pretty good – I kept it more on the neutral side with some soft blush tones.
Here I am with my hubby 🙂 I wish we took more pictures, but we were busy eating and tending to Marli. 

I am so bummed I didn’t really get any good pictures of her except for these two.  
The LEFT was before the party (notice the cute bow and nicely steamed dress)
The RIGHT was taken at the END of the night after we came home (bowless, a little flustered, completely covered in wrinkles) haha!
 She was holding all of the photo booth pictures saying how much she liked the photos, party, and dancing.

    gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! Cannot go wrong with old Hollywood glam. That dress is stunning and the baby is adorable too!
    Isn’t it always the way, go in the store for one thing come out with 10 extras! 🙂

    That dress is amazing! That was great fortune to be able to find dresses for you and Marli that were absolutely adorable! Y’all looked great! Weddings are such a fun excuse to get all dolled up and fancy!
