Morning Lovelies! It’s been such a busy few weeks and I hope you all had a great weekend! Marli celebrated her 2nd birthday a couple weeks ago and I decided to do a Pow Wow Party Theme for her.
We only invited my family and in-laws to keep it personal, but even with that, there were probably 30-40 people in our house! It was such a great time! We kept the menu simple – ribs and chicken on the grill, summer salad, a couple small appetizers, and crawfish. This was the sweets table I set up for the party.
I made the DIY teepee out of construction paper and washi tape. These cupcakes were homemade and I added the little feathers I purchased from Hobby Lobby. (I think there were 24 in a bag for $2.)
My dad and I made this DIY triangle backdrop for the party as well. It was SUPER easy to make and Marli LOVED it. After the party was over, I decided to hang it in Marli’s room and every time she sees it, her face lights up because it reminds her of the party.
The theme was a last minute idea and since I didn’t have time to get her a real Pocahontas outfit, we improvised with a DIY version. She LOVED wearing her little tutu and really thought she was a princess.
There’s my little ham during the party ๐ I made the kiddos little DIY feather headbands to wear and Marli also got her own special one. She still wears it around the house one some days.
We snapped a quick photo before the guests arrive.
This was her main cake for the guests to eat. I kept it simple, but it still fit the Pow Wow Party Theme. I asked her baker to draw feathers, but I guess she couldn’t do it (haha!) so arrows had to do.
We made 2 small round cakes for Marli and her cousin, Lydia, and gave them to the girls when it was time to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to them. I made these easy DIY bunting cake toppers for the girls.
Lydia was really excited about eating the cake..Marli, not so much. Haha!
And, no party is complete without a family photo together. I think this was the only photo of us together. We love you Miss Marli and hope you had a fun and memorable 2nd Birthday!
**I will be posting about some of the DIY in later posts**
**I am a little late, but Marli’s 24-Month Update is coming soon.**
