A few things she’s really LOVING right now:
– spaghetti noodles (I taught her to twist it on her fork and every time she eats it, she will sing “twist twist twist”)
– cheese (I ALWAYS pack string cheese for her as a snack anytime we leave the house because I know she loves it)
– applesauce
– blueberries (or as she would say ‘blue-blellies’)
– cantaloupe and watermelon
– broccoli
For the past week or so, I have been giving her “big girl cereal” to eat (where I mix the cereal + milk in a bowl) and she is LOVING it! Thankfully, she hasn’t made a huge mess (yet).
PROUD MAMA MOMENT: She’s finally got it down like a pro with her praying. She can say “Father, Son, Holy Spirit, Amen” while signing the cross and helps me with our mealtime prayer.
I was also thinking of enrolling her into a music and/or dance class. She LOVES to dance, especially to Pharell’s song ‘Happy’ and every time we drive anywhere, we are usually listening to her music.
Other activities she loves:
– She is the building block master
– She loves tea parties and baking cakes
– She is learning to ride a tricycle
LANGUAGE: She has always been such a talker, but I noticed right before her 2nd birthday, her vocabulary exploded two-fold. Having my in-laws visit during her birthday and having so many living bodies in the house really helped too because she was constantly around to hear our conversations and even repeated a lot of our phrases.
I have always heard people saying that toddlers will go through the “why” stage where they ask “why” to everything. But, with Marli, everything is “where.” “Where’s Uncle Kevin?” “Where’s the cape?” Where is the blue ball?” The list goes on and on and on…and on. Haha
During bedtime, I sometimes sing her this lullaby I made up and lo and behold, she sang it to my husband and my cousin the other day…the whole thing! AND the other night, she said our bedtime prayer all by herself too. I was sooo proud of her ๐
She definitely knows her name and age, although she likes to say she is five. Ha! She even has a “I’m Two” dance
I have quickly learned that Marli is a creature of comfort and routine. Anything that is outside of her comfort zone is a red flag to her and that means I have to ease her into it. She is definitely a one-on-one person so a room full of people tends to overwhelm her. She would much rather play with 1 person than 5. I noticed that when her little cousins were over, she played with them but was pretty quiet. However, if I sat at the table and played along, she felt so much more confident and was talking up a storm.
Also, if we are going to a party or to meet someone new, I always talk to her about what she’s going to see and what to expect and I think it helps her anticipate what to expect. I know she loves learning and seeing new things, but she’s not as much of a thrill seeker as she would like to be. I think this is an important age to offer a ton of praise, build her confidence and reassure her to try new things.
Since we will have a break for the summer, I am REALLY hoping to get her potty trained. Wish me luck!

So cute! My (unasked for, so feel free to ignore it) advice for potty training, is take it slow and let her lead. You’ll be less frustrated and Marli will be less likely to get bored with it. ๐

What a great post! Her tutu is adorable! Isn’t preschool a God-send? It’s so great for their development and I’m glad to see that she is enjoying it! We are looking into a gym class for Winston this summer and enrolling him in a few activities with our church. We should do a Houston Moms visit to the zoo one day since it’s a central location for most folks!
