One of my New Year’s Resolutions this year is to put more effort into my style in regards to my casual and weekend looks. Getting dressed up for date nights and outings is actually the easy part because they are far and few and I tend to put more time and effort into them, but I’ll keep it real with you. 80% of the time, I’m sporting my mommy uniform around town and I look like a hot mess. Let’s just say I have worn my pajamas pants out while shopping at Target on more than one occasion and gotten a few crazy stares from my own husband. I think that was his nice way of saying “get it together woman” so I got the hint and am making a change for 2016.
I am starting a new series called The Stylish Mommy Uniform where I’ll post 1-2 mommy uniform outfit ideas a month for my fellow mommies and guess what – no yoga pants are allowed!
All the looks will be stylish, trendy, comfortable, and most importantly, take almost no time to put together since I’m throwing my outfits together in 10 minutes or less most of the time. Wanna join in? Shoot me an email or better yet, find me on Instagram and we can do a link up! I love seeing/sharing styles from other beautiful mamas!

Today’s look combines the tee shirt dress + sneakers. At 35 weeks pregnant (YES! You read that right – oh em gee! So close…), I just can’t do pants anymore (unless they’re pregnant leggings) so dresses have been my best friend.
Thankfully, sneakers have come such a long way in the fashion industry so now it’s actually considered cool to pair the two pieces together (and skirts as well). With so many different styles, colors, and options between flats vs. wedge sneakers, the possibilities are endless. Coming from a gal who owns a pretty hefty collection of kicks, I couldn’t be happier! My snake skin Adidas sneakers are sold out, but here are two similar styles (here and here) as well as a pair of high tops I also own.
I purchased this Liz Lange tee shirt dress from Target and the solid grey color is no longer available, but they have some great stripe colors available HERE. Best part – it’s on clearance for $12.48 (regular priced $24.99)! If you’re looking for a 3/4 sleeve, THESE are also wonderful.
I went for an effortless monochromatic look and threw on this jacket from BCBG and Forever 21 blanket scarf as I was walking out the door since the temps were in the 50s. I think the blanket scarf pulled my winter look together perfectly and added a little pop of print to the ensemble. And, I will say that I felt like a cool chic mom on the move with these fun cat eye sunnies I scored at Forever 21 for less than $5. Anyone else love cheap sunglasses as much as me?
Here are a few ideas/tips if you want to sport this mommy uniform style:
(1) Go for a neutral/monochromatic look to keep things safe, classic, and clean.
(2) Use your sneakers as the “pop of color” to a neutral outfit. It’s the perfect accessory to your outfit!
(3) If you don’t own a pair of white sneakers or Chucks, now is the time to get a pair! They literally go with everything!
(4) Denim anything + sneakers is like a match made in heaven.
(5) Try wedge sneakers (which is basically like a heel but in a sporty form) with a shorter length dress/skirt. It’s the perfect combo of sexy + edgy + cool.
