Babywearing has been one of the most beautiful things I’ve experienced since becoming a mother. After welcoming Matea into our family, I often worried how I would be able to get things done around the house while giving each girl enough attention so they wouldn’t feel neglected. More importantly, I wanted to make sure my bond with Matea was just as strong as it was with Marli. While I don’t want to say Matea is high maintenance, she definitely needs a lot more attention than Marli when she was little and that was a huge adjustment for me to accept.
As much as I would love nothing more than to cuddle with her all day long, there were chores to tend to, meals to cook, laundry to fold, etc etc etc. I started to get anxiety, not to mention the feeling of complete mom guilt that I wasn’t tending to her needs AND I was starting to neglect Marli too because of Matea’s neediness.
After trying out several brands and styles (from the BabyBjorn Baby Carrier to the Moby Wrap), we decided on the ring slings from Sakura Bloom and to say that I love this brand would be an understatement. I’m pretty much obsessed with their entire shop. Their ring slings are so swoon worthy! They are all made from the finest all-natural fibers – soft linens, lush dupioni silks, and cozy cashmere – and it is pure luxury against your skin. Every single color option is so rich and beautiful making their products top of the line.
I have their timeless classic Linen Chambray Collection in the Raisin color and love the fabric! During these hot summer days, I need something light and breathable but super durable to hold Matea in place and this sling works extremely well. It’s five times stronger than cotton and woven from spun flax which is one of the most sustainable natural fibers in the world.
The slings only come in one size, but it’s plenty of material to secure baby in place without all the extra fabric. Plus, the wide piece of fabric allows for enough coverage across your shoulder and back making it so comfortable to use. I also love how versatile this collection is making it well suited for any occasion – casual or fancy.
Another HUGE reason I love Sakura Bloom’s collection is how incredibly easy it is to use! Here is the video tutorial, but all you have to do is toss it over your shoulder, loop it through the ring and tighten as needed and that’s it! When I purchased the Moby wrap, there was sooooo much material to deal with and I had the hardest time learning to properly wrap and secure Matea into place.
Since babywearing, the closeness I have felt to Matea has never been stronger. Having that skin to skin contact has brought us closer together and I can tell she’s so much more content and calm being close to me. There are even days she’s fallen sleep in her sling and it is just heaven getting to watch her.
Babywearing with Sakura has also allowed me to accomplish more things around the house as well as spend more quality time with Marli without the interruption of a crying baby and that makes my heart so happy knowing I’m able to make the most of my time with both my girls. And, I am pretty sure Matea has picked up on a lot of my vocabulary because she has been babbling NONSTOP lately! Since she’s tagging along right beside me, she’s learning more words and seeing new things all the time.
Thank you Sakura Bloom for introducing me to babywearing with your incredible slings, but more importantly, thank you for helping me be a better mother to my girls!

That’s good to know! I’ve seen women wearing those, but wasn’t sure the benefit.

I was all set to be a baby wearing mama…I bought my wrap just a few months into my pregnancy. Unfortunately, it’s still in the package – my son couldn’t be carried in wraps due to his dwarfism diagnosis and back issues…it would have been SO helpful esp with getting things done around the house. It was for the best, but I’m still envious <3

Ok so now I feel like I need a sling! I have a pocket shirt and a solly baby wrap and an ergo but I don’t have a sling and I feel like it would be super easy to throw on. My baby is almost 4 weeks old – do you think its too young for the sling?
