The other day, my friend asked me to send her a photo of the girls and I so she could make a collage for one of her projects. Excited to help her out, I started searching through the hundreds of photos I had taken since Matea was born 8 short months ago and finally after 30 minutes of searching, I found two photos of the three of us. TWO! And what’s even sadder, they weren’t even current photos. Both were from May of this year for Mother’s Day and Memorial Weekend. My heart hurt a little.
Often times, I’m so busy capturing special little moments behind the lens that I forget how important it is to BE a part of that moment. Surely I can’t be the only one that does this, right? Never will I be able to get back this precious time with them so I want to capture as many photos with my girls as possible. Then, 30 years from now when they have kids of their own, we can all have a good laugh and smile about all of the great times we captured together as a family.
With the holiday season in full swing, I knew this would be a perfect time for a photo op with my babes. Believe it or not, I was not a fan of twinning/matching before having kids. Gasp! I swore up and down I would never be that mom aaannnnd here I am, obviously eating my own words. I mean what else are you supposed to do when you have two girls?? I know there will come a time when Marli and Matea will be appalled that I tried to coordinate outfits with them, but for now, I’m so glad that they love it as much as I do.
Fall is my favorite time of year for the obvious reasons – food, holidays, and cooler weather – but I also love it because of the wardrobe! The Fall outfits I can create for my girls and I are endless thanks to all the layering I can do. Marli and Matea are dressed in Janie and Jack, one of my favorite shops for finding the most classic, sophisticated, chic and oh so dreamy clothing. Their collections are so beautifully curated as if each outfit tells a story and the quality is incredible. Their latest Fall Collection as you can see is just adorable beyond words!
I centered Marli and Matea’s outfits around the oh so classic navy color and the khaki + hint of gold were the perfect accent colors for their Fall outfits. I am obsessed with Marli’s shift dress – from the cute chest bow to the little pockets – seriously guys, I searched high and low to find an identical dress, but didn’t have any luck. And don’t get me started on her quilted knee high boots which are PERFECT for this season. Matea matched her sister with this cute number. I got her these riding pants with the quilted patch to match her sister’s boots and they are so comfy. Did you spot those darling tassel ballet flats?? So so cute! And I love her cable sweater beret (even if it made her look like a boy haha! Her hair is slooowly growing and I think she may get some curls like her sister.)
On Marli – Dress | Trench Coat | Hair Bow | Purse | Boots | On Matea – Shirt | Vest | Pants | Beret | Shoes
We had so much fun taking these photos and I am really looking forward to being a part of more moments rather than being behind the camera. I can’t wait to share these photos with my friend and hang some on our wall. Be sure to visit Janie and Jack to view their latest collection and let me know what your favorite pieces are! I bet you can’t pick just one thing. Thanks for reading, lovelies!
