Happy Thanksgiving Eve, lovelies! With the holidays in full swing, I decided to start a fun series to show you some great holiday party looks that’s sure to turn some heads. First up is this classic little number featuring some street chic eyewear from Memorial Park Vision. Who knew a great pair of glasses would be the perfect accessory to complete my party look! More on that in a bit, but let’s talk about this classic outfit.
I was immediately drawn to this dress because of the the lace up detail which has been a hot trend this season. It gives the traditional v-neckline so much character not to mention a little peek-a-boo action without revealing too much. The color is obviously a winner because I love anything navy, but can we talk about the fit of this dress?!? AMAZING! It’s fit and flare style plus stretchy knitted construction makes it super flattering on anyone. I’m 5’8” and this hit a little above my knee, but it would be a great length if you’re on the petite side as well. And I’ll surprise you with how much this dress is because it’s a steal! You may end up buying the other color too once you find out. 🙂
I paired my outfit with matching navy tights for a dressier look and absolutely love love love these black pointy toe booties. Sometimes wearing pointy toe shoes can be uncomfortable because of the narrow closing, but these booties are amazingly comfortable. And, did you catch the criss cross lace up detail on the side? These LINDBERG glasses from Memorial Park Vision are beyond amazing. Really, they are. The comfort, fit, and shape compliment my face shape to a tee. It probably has something to do with the fact that each frame from this luxurious Danish line is made to order and is handcrafted to customize the individual. As someone who’s been wearing glasses for 15+ years, I’ve never felt 100% confident sporting my glasses out in public until now. The staff at Memorial Park Vision really educated me on selecting the best frames to fit my face shape as well as give me some insight on what’s trending for 2017.
To choose the best frames for your face shape, the rule of thumb is to do the opposite of what your face shape is. If you have a round face, opt for frames that are more rectangular or wear angular narrow glasses to lengthen your face. If you have a square face, choose round or oval frames to soften the sharpness and take attention away from your jawline. If you have a heart shaped face, try cat eye glasses or bottom heavy frames to add more width to the lower part of your face. If you have an oval shaped face, you’re in luck. Most styles will look good on you. Of course this is only a basic starting point, but it’s always best to try on several styles to see what you like and feel most comfortable with. Also, the style you’re going for also has a lot of influence on what frames you select.
So, what eyewear trends will we be seeing in 2017? Here are five of my favs from this boutique. Clear or nude frame glasses are definitely a hot item so jump on board now. Next up is the tortoise shell glasses which are also great for Fall and Winter seasons. Third (and probably my favorite) are the oversized glasses which are making a huge comeback. If you’re looking to add a little color into your life, opt for something in the red, pink, or purple shade because this is going to be big next year. What a fun way to add a pop of color into your life! And lastly, I am loving these browline glasses which make for a great professional look.
