TGIF, lovelies! How is it already Friday?!?!?! Marli has been out of school all week and how I survived keeping up with these two girls has been nothing short of a miracle. They have kept me so busy that I just realized Christmas is only TWO days away. Cue the angels! If you haven’t finished your Christmas shopping by now (like my husband, ahem), may the shopping force be with you.
If you had asked me a few months ago what I wanted for Christmas, I would’ve had plenty of things to share. I mean who doesn’t want nice things for Christmas, right? But, as I began to reflect about what this holiday is truly about, my list grew shorter and shorter until it was completely empty. What I really wanted for Christmas wasn’t something that could be bought or found underneath the tree. The best gift I can receive this year is time well spent making memories with my girls.
I want to start making traditions with them. From decorating the tree together to baking cookies while listening to Christmas music and going to see the lights, I know it’s these little things they’ll remember 20 years from now. I want to capture candid photos of them enjoying this beautiful time of year. I want them to learn about the gift of giving, especially when there are so many people without family and friends to share it with or the means to provide simple things like their next meal. I want them to learn about the spirit of Christmas, to celebrate the birth of Christ, and more than anything, that Christmas isn’t about presents and materialistic things.
Now that Marli is older and able to grasp what this holiday is about, my heart has been so full hearing her talk about God and all the wonderful things He has blessed our family with. She says that she loves Him so much and she is thankful that He is always watching over her and Matea. And she’s pretty excited to celebrate his birthday on Sunday.
I’ve got the girls’ outfits all set aside for Christmas mass and I can’t wait to wear this pretty midi dress to church on Sunday. This is another sparkly piece from Who What Wear Collection‘s collab with Target and gosh – it’s definitely one understated beauty. At first, I wasn’t quite sure about it when I saw it on the hanger, but I quickly fell in love with this midi dress as soon as I put it on. It’s a faux wrap dress and the midi length is oh so perfect. The style is very simple, but the sparkle print and v-neck line adds just the right amount of glam for the perfect holiday outfit to wear. Plus, it’s less than $35! Yes, girl. YAASSSSS.
I’m even thinking about wearing this as a possible New Year’s Eve dress if the hubs and I decide to get a little wild and paint the town red. 🙂 I opted away from the heels, but instead paired it with my favorite booties (are you tired of seeing these yet? haha) for a trendier Fall/Winter look and loved it. I kept the gold and black cOlof scheme going strong with this great clutch from Aldo that also converts into a crossbody. I linked a couple other great options below.
I’m off to enjoy the rest of our weekend and get ready for Christmas. I hope you guys have the merriest Christmas ever! And as always, thank you so much for taking the time to read my posts.
