Hey, loves! Hope you had an amazing long weekend. I woke up this morning completely confused as to what day of the week it was, but I’m definitely not complaining. It’s a short work week and I’m pretty excited for Saturday to get here because my cousin will be getting hitched! Weddings are always so fun…especially when you get a sitter (aka my momma) to watch your kids. Do you guys have any plans?
The rest of the month is jam packed with events, not to mention a special someone’s 1st birthday (OMG! I cannot believe I just said that), Chinese New Years, one of my closest friend’s baby shower, and an AMAZING event that will be happening NEXT weekend in preparation for the Big Football Game. More on that in a bit.
The big game is coming up, but to be honest, I’m not rooting for any of the final 4 teams so you probably won’t see me wearing a football jersey for the game. I’ve already picked out my outfit, but let’s just hope I don’t have to make any modifications to this outfit (aka my over the knee boots). You never really know with this crazy Houston weather. Yesterday it was humid and hot, but by midday, we were in the cool 70s. I LOVE a good flannel shirt because you can style it so many ways and get a completely different look each time. This top just sold out, but I found a great one HERE and HERE from Macy’s that comes in several colors + the back shoulder detail is really cool.
Here are 5 Different Ideas to Style A Plaid Shirt for Every Look
- TAILORED CHIC: First up, my outfit gives this plaid shirt a more tailored feel. By tucking in your shirt and adding a colorful belt, it really streamlines your outfit. I will forever be obsessed with chokers and had to throw this one into the mix. You can wear a cardigan like I did or add a cute blazer to complete your tailored style.
- ALL LAYERED UP: Wear it under a sweater OR vest. It’ll add a great pop of print to your outfit. Add heels or boots for the cutest look!
- CUTE & CASUAL: Leave it unbuttoned and wear a simple tank or v-neck tee underneath. The plaid shirt will act as the “outerwear” for your outfit. Better yet, how about wearing it over a bodycon dress or something pretty and flowy!
- JUST DARLING: Have you tried pairing a maxi skirt or skater skirt with it? Tuck it in with the skater skirt and do the twist tie for the maxi skirt – it will look amazing I promise!
- JUST TIE IT: A lot of times, I will simply wear a plaid shirt by tying it around my waist because it gives my outfit the perfect “90s vibe.”
Now, onto that exciting event I mentioned earlier. I had to share the details with you now because if you are from Houston or will be in town next weekend for the football party, you will not want to miss it. On Saturday, Jan 28th, the Macy’s Galleria Houston will be hosting The Culinary Council Cooking where Houston native Chef Brad Caswell will be cooking it up and sharing some of his tips and tricks for the Big Game. Since we are hosting the football party this year, I’m pretty stoked he’ll be teaching us how to create some delicious recipes for our guests. It’s not a good party without the perfect food + entertainment, right? Besides, I could totally use these tips for future parties and gatherings in the months to come.
It’s not everyday you get to be up close and personal with a renown chef so make sure to grab your ticket HERE before they’re all gone! Access to the event is FREE, but seating is limited so don’t wait! You’ll get a $10 Macy’s gift card just for attending and if you purchase $35 or more in Macy’s Home Department, you get a free game day gift plus a photo with the chef himself. All the details are below. Let me know if you’ll be there too!
