The holiday season is officially here and I’m ready to party! I have a few events in the works, but wanted to know what you guys have planned? Will you be playing host this year or the attendee? Regardless if you’re throwing a festive get-together for your friends or attending a fancy soiree for work, now is the perfect time to start planning out those holiday outfits. I recently visited Ann Mashburn in River Oaks to pick out a holiday look and fell in love with the store!
Ann Mashburn is a clothing, accessories and home decor retailer, featuring iconic brands and in-house exclusives. Ann, along with her husband Sid, curate all of their unique pieces for both their women’s and men’s boutiques, Ann Mashburn and Sid Mashburn. The ambience gave off a very upscale chic meets classic casual vibe that made me feel right at home. Their curated collection was nothing short of amazing. I wanted everything! From cozy sweaters to tailored outfits and outerwear, there were pieces to fit every style whether it be comfort casual or business chic. I could definitely feel the wonderful craftsmanship in every piece of clothing and accessory I tried on.
This classic pink tweed midi dress immediately caught my eye as soon as I saw it. While most people naturally gravitate towards red, black, and metallic hues for the holidays, I decided to go the unexpected route with this pretty pop of pink. I’ve always had a soft spot for this color, but factor in the tweed fabric and pockets (yes, it has pockets!) and I was sold! In fact, pockets are a big thing to include in their dresses, which is just one more reason to love their brand.
The fit and length of the Midi Agent Dress is so timeless. It’s fairly fitted, has a beautiful v-back detail, and back slit so walking is a breeze. It comes with this long black grosgrain sash which I used to cinch in my waist. I opted for a simple tie in the front, but you can play around with different tie options depending on your style.
Tweed Midi Dress: Ann Mashburn
Beyond the holidays, there are so many other ways to style this classic dress. Here are 3 ideas you’ll love.
- Pair it with a blazer for a chic tailored look. Opt for one that hits below the waist. If blazers aren’t your thing, try a long cardigan. This would be a perfect outfit for the office.
- Turn this dress into a pencil skirt by adding a sweater over the dress. Add a skinny belt to cinch in the waist for a complete new outfit.
- Ever thought about putting a skirt over this? If you want to re-work this for a fancy black tie event, pair it with a black ball gown skirt that hits a little above the waist. I would recommend one that has a wide waist. You could even add an embellished belt or brooch to glam it up. Trust me on this – it’ll look amazing.
Ann Mashburn also carries the cutest collection for little ones, cool home finds, and a seriously dapper menswear line from her husband’s shop at Sid Mashburn. Shop online or visit one of their 4 locations across the U.S. You will fall in love with their brand as much as I have!

For those who think they might be too short for the midi length, this dress would look great shortened to a mini length and worn with or without the tie belt. I’ve had an Ann Mashburn midi skirt shortened to just above my knee to make it more flattering for me, and it couldn’t be easier since they have tailors in the shop!

Totally agree! It’s a super easy fix. Don’t you love their shop??
