Now that the holidays are over, it’s time to hit the reset button and get back in shape. We probably indulged a little bit more than we should have, but guess what? It’s completely OK because that’s what the holidays are for. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing my favorite workouts to get you back on track, but for today, we’re laying down the foundation to create healthier habits. By sharing these 5 tips for a healthy routine after the holidays, you’ll be creating a better lifestyle for years to come!
Rule #1: NEVER SKIP BREAKFAST // Fueling your body with good nutrients at the start of the day can boost energy levels, prevent hunger and disease, support weight loss, improve cognition, and so much more. If you’re a busy mom like me, these delicious Del Monte® Fruit & Oats™ are perfect to throw in your bag. Packed with 20g of whole grains per serving and a full serving of fruit*, these cups are the first ready-to-eat oatmeal. You can eat it hot or cold, making it such a healthy option—especially if you’re on the go. Grab one in the fruit snack aisle and save $.75 off one pack of Del Monte Fruit & Oats Cups with this coupon. The apple cinnamon flavor is my fave!
Rule #2: SCHEDULE YOUR WORKOUTS // Make your health a priority by blocking out time to exercise. That way, you don’t have any excuse to miss it! Plus, it’s a great chance to get in some alone time to focus on ‘you.’
Rule #3: 20 MINUTES A DAY // If you’re short on time or feeling unmotivated, 20 minutes of exercise a day can do wonders for your health! Walk the dog, ride your bike around the neighborhood, play with your kids at the park, or even squeeze in mini HIIT session in between commercial breaks if you can. Any sort of activity (even low impact ones) are better than nothing at all.
Rule #4: LOAD UP ON SNACKS // Want to stay on track with your fitness goals? Pack healthy snacks! That way, you don’t get tempted by unhealthy options and you’ll only be fueling your body with the best foods. These Del Monte® Fruit Refreshers® curb my sweet cravings while providing me with a full serving of fruit* for less than 100 calories per cup. I love the grapefruit and oranges flavor, but my girls are all about the peaches in mango flavored water one. I’ve also been mixing things up lately with the Del Monte® Fruit & Chia™ which gives me extra fiber and omega-3s.
Rule #5: TRACK YOUR PROGRESS // This is so important and such a great motivator to keep you going! Day-to-day, you may not see the changes happening to your body, but by taking photos and keeping a log of your progress, you’ll be able to see how far you’ve come. Small changes yields big results!
I can’t wait to get back on track with my fitness and health goals with you guys this year! Start using these tips today and let me know if you have any others to add. Cheers to creating a healthy, balanced lifestyle for 2019!

Love all of your tips! I’m the worst at eating breakfast so I’m definitely going to have to grab some of these for my fridge. If it’s easy to grab, I’ll remember to eat it. I’ll also have to start scheduling my workouts so I know I have to do them.

Yes! Even if it’s 15-20 minutes a day – a little goes a long way!

I remember seeing a documentary years ago about the importance of breakfast and since then I haven’t missed a breakfast *ever*, no matter what! It really does set you off on the right foot 🙂

I’m obsessed with that pink jacket! So cute! I’ll also have to try those Del Monte snack cups too…love that they’re under 100 calories.

My partner and I are both planning on 2019 being our healthiest year yet! As I’m in the midst of being diagnosed with Celiac, and he’ll be finishing uni this year and going out into the workforce, we have even more good reasons to change up our lifestyles and start eating better and being healthier. Unfortunately I now have quite a restrictive diet, so it will take some getting used to, but hopefully soon it will be like second nature 😊

I often eat breakfast on the go. This looks like such a better option than what I currently grab! I love how January inspires healthier habits.
