Are you ready for some football?!?! We’re less than a week away from Super Bowl LIII and you better believe I am ready. Ready to eat, that is! I mean that’s what game day is really about, right? I’ve been prepping my game day menu and wanted to share my latest Brazi Bites concoction that’s sure to score you some major points with the crowd. Whether you’re hosting a party or attending one, these chili cheese dog bread bites are gonna to go fast so make sure to make a big batch!
A few things to note about this recipe. First, calories technically don’t count on occasions like this, but if you’re looking for a healthier party appetizer, you’re definitely in luck! I always make these with lean ground turkey to cut down on calories and fat and always use chicken or vegan hot dogs. Yes, I said vegan hot dog. Trust me – so delish!
Second, if you’re crunched for time and can’t make homemade chili, there’s always store-bought or the can version. Third, when you’re molding the cheese bread, I turn it upside down so the base is smaller than the top (see pic below). It makes it easier to mold/shape. Last thing, the recommended time to thaw these bad boys is about 15 minutes. Don’t let them sit out too long before shaping; otherwise, they’ll get really sticky and break apart.
Here’s my Chili Cheese Dog Bread Bites Recipe. Enjoy!
INGREDIENTS
(for chili)
- 1 pound 93% lean ground turkey
- 1 package chili seasoning
- 1 can (14 1/2 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 can (15 to 16 oz) kidney beans, undrained
(for chili cheese dogs)
- 2 (11.5 oz) bags of Brazi Bites Cheese & Parmesan Brazilian Cheese Bread, thawed
- 4 hot dogs, sliced & diced – you can use the traditional hot dog, chicken, beef, or vegan (I used chicken for a healthier option)
- 1/2 cup Cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream (optional)
- 1 avocado, diced (optional)
- cooking spray, for pan
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease a pan with cooking spray and set aside.
- Place Brazi Bites on a pan/plate to thaw for 15 minutes.
- While the cheese bread is thawing, prepare your chili. (If you are using a pre-made chili, skip to step 6.) In a large skillet on medium heat, brown lean turkey until cooked. Drain fat.
- Add in chili seasoning and mix well. Add in tomatoes and beans and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low and continue to cook for 10 minutes. Make sure to stir occasionally. Once it’s done, set aside.
- Firmly press the middle of each Brazi Bite and carefully mold a crater-like section for the chili. Fill each with several pieces of diced hot dog. Spoon a generous amount of chili over that and top it off with cheddar cheese.
- Bake in the oven for 20 minutes. Finish it off with a sprinkle of your favorite fixings – chives, onions, sour cream, and avocado. Betcha can’t eat just one. Enjoy!
So any predictions on who will win the game? I’m gonna call it that Patriots win 27 to 13 against the Rams. I’d love to hear what your favorite Game Day appetizers are and how you’re incorporating Brazi Bites into the mix. If you’re looking for a good dip, here’s a spinach artichoke dip I made recently. Be sure to grab your favorite flavor at your local grocery store.

Yum! I’m going to a Super Bowl party so I’ll have to try these. They look like a crowd pleaser. And I hope the Rams win. Tom Brady doesn’t need anymore wins.

I have to try to make these for a snack. Super Bowl will happen during work here in Japan and I rarely go to the watch parties.
