Once upon a time, I did this thing called spontaneous cooking. Whatever I felt like eating for that meal, I made. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were made-to-order because I had the luxury of time to cook whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. It was glorious! Then, I had 2 kids and realized this just wasn’t practical for our lifestyle. Now, I’m all about meal prepping because it’s so easy and efficient for us. Not only does it save me a ton of time, but it keeps our family on track with a healthy balanced lifestyle.
I don’t know about you, but we spend a good chunk of our time driving around. Whether it’s taking the girls to school, an extracurricular activity, or going to a weekend event, we’re always commuting. That’s the perk of living in a big city. With that being said, I started making healthy snack boxes as part of my meal prep for the week and it has been a huge hit with the girls! Instead of giving them potato chips or sugary treats, these snack bowls meet all the main food categories for a well-balanced snack adults and kids can enjoy.
PROTEIN // I’m always stumped on good protein options to give the girls as snacks and think I’ve found a winner. My latest obsession are these Foster Farms Bold Bites. Packed with 15g of protein and 5 flavors to choose from, they are so good and absolutely perfect for those on-to-go days. I’ve tossed them in my salads, eaten them as a post-workout meal, and even diced them up to make chicken quesadillas for the girls as a snack when we’re at home. Matea, who is my picky eater, cannot get enough of the Parmesan Garlic flavor.
The chicken breast comes fully-cooked, is packed with flavor, and already diced so all you need to do is eat it. It’s really that simple. Plus, I love that they don’t add any nitrites, nitrates, or artificial colors/flavors. Gotta read your labels, guys! You can find them at your local Wal-Mart, Target, Kroger, Safeway, Save Mart, Lucky’s, Albertsons, and Vons.
VEGGIES // To hit my veggies, I usually give the girls celery, carrots (raw or lightly steamed), cherry tomatoes, cucumber, edamame, or peas. Sometimes I include a dip for them if we’re at home, but if we’re en route, I opt out of that because things could get messy really fast.
FRUITS & DAIRY // My girls love anything sweet so fruit is a favorite of theirs. The easiest option is seedless grapes because there’s no dicing involved, but the possibilities are endless. Tangerines, strawberries, cantaloupe, melons, sliced apples, kiwis, and even a baby banana would be great to include in their snack box. For dairy, string cheese is the easiest option for us. However, you could also do cubed or sliced cheese, yogurt, or cottage cheese.
STARCH // This is also an easy one that has endless possibilities. Pretzels, veggies chips, crackers, pasta, wheat bread, and popcorn are great options. If you opt for chips, pick organic ones with better oils like coconut oil or avocado oil.
Hope these healthy snack box ideas were super helpful for you guys! Share your ideas below and what Foster Farms Bold Bites flavor you’d love to try. The Korean BBQ Style is currently my favorite one.

Something tells me the garlic, parmesan will be my favourites.
I want to take snacks with me at the office. Things like veggies with hummus or fruits, or parfaits. The healthy stuff.
I only managed to take lunch from home lately, but I’m slowly starting to bring snacks with me as well.

Okay now I need a snake… and I want this! Looks and sounds amazing!! We no longer live in the city but we do drive a lot since it takes 20 minutes just to get to town so these are perfect!

Love these snack ideas! I should make some for myself during the day — that chili verde flavour is right up my alley. My kids would love the one with tangerines and veggie straws.
