Cancer – it’s a disease we’ve all been affected by in some way. For me, this hits way too close to home. 7 years ago, my sweet mom was diagnosed with cancer and it has forever changed our lives. From years of treatments to countless doctor appointments, I’ve seen first hand how this terrible disease can affect a patient and their loved ones.
That’s why I’m so honored to partner up with Gordmans and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) during the month of October to raise awareness and support their research to find a cure. My mom is making her guest appearance today to help share all the ways you can participate! And, Gordmans has made it SO easy to join the cause whether you live near one of their 141 stores or want to get involved in the comfort of your home.
One of the easiest ways to participate is by making a donation through their website. It’s a quick and easy way to get involved and 100% of the proceeds will go directly to BCRF. Another great way to participate if you can’t make it in-store is to help spread the word through social media! Simply post a photo on your Instagram feed using the hashtag #ipinkican and Gordmans will donate $1.00 to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (up to $35,000).
If you live near one of their 141 locations, you can get involved in a big way. During the month of October, pick up this HUGE tote bag for $2.98 and Gordmans will donate $2 of those sales to the BCRF. I got one for my mom to carry all her things during her hospital visits and it literally holds all the things!
If you’re looking for a personal way to directly help someone who’s been diagnosed with cancer, Gordmans can definitely help! Thanks to my mom’s suggestions, we created this thoughtful care package for cancer patients packed with useful essentials they can use especially if they’re undergoing chemo treatment. Here’s what we included in our gift and why it’ll come in handy:
- WARM PJ SET: Cancer patients often get cold easily so including a warm set of pjs or a soft blanket to use is a great item to include in your care package. This one is SO cozy and is less than $17.
- SCARF: Another great item to keep them warm is a scarf. This set comes with 2 and could even double as a head wrap. Talk about being stylish during their treatments!
- FUZZY SOCKS: Cozy socks to keep my mom warm during those chemo treatments were a must so this would be another great item to include. This cute fuzzy pair was less than $5.
- PRETTY BRAS: For breast cancer patients, including comfortable pretty undergarments would be such a thoughtful gesture. I love the hint of lace on this pink & black set. Let’s take care of those ta-tas and keep them supported!
- WATER BOTTLE: Staying hydrated is key especially when undergoing treatment. This large insulated bottle is less than $10 and the perfect size to take with them anywhere.
- LIP BALM: During chemotherapy, it’s common for patients to experience dry, chapped lips so keeping a set of chapsticks close by will help keep their lips moisturized.
- SOAP / SANITIZER: Cancer patients tend to have a very weak immune system. Therefore, including this item in your care package to keep germs away is a must!
- BATH FIZZ BALLS: What better way to practice self-care and relax than treating them to a warm bath. These cookie shaped fizz balls are perfect to throw in the tub and unwind to after a long day.
- CALMING CANDLE: Creating a calm and peaceful setting with this amazing scent will help relief any stress they may have. I love this eucalyptus scent because it reminds me of a spa!
- JOURNAL: Keeping a daily journey to record thoughts and log medication is super useful. Plus, this one from Gordmans is less than $4 and is filled with daily scriptures to encourage and comfort cancer patients.
Hope you guys enjoyed that gift idea and all the ways you can help support the BCRF. We’ve all been touched by cancer so let’s work together to end it once and for all. To learn more about Pink October and how you can support the cause, visit Gordmans now. Thanks so much for reading, guys!
