We’re wrapping up the last few weeks of summer and boy has it been a fun one. The girls participated in some of their all-time favorite camps, we explored a ton of different restaurants, enjoyed pool time, and even ventured out for a fun staycation last weekend. They had the best time! For our trip, I packed a few summer essentials to make my trip super relaxing and useful. Let’ dive in on those beat the heat summer essentials.
BEAUTY PICKS
My skin can take a beating in the summer so I packed Tree Hut’s Sugar Face Scrubs for a little pampering session at the hotel while the kids were at the pool. These are made with 100% natural exfoliants to gently, yet effectively buff away dry skin and impurities that can lead to a dull complexion. All of their scrubs are made in the USA, paraben and cruelty free, vegan, and do not contain formaldehyde donors. I have this hydrating scrub and the purifying one which are both Alpha Hydroxy Acids.
The Hydrating Watermelon & Cactus Water Sugar Face Scrub contains watermelon which is a natural humectant that helps prevent moisture loss. It also contains cactus water that helps promote hydration through electrolytes and antioxidants.
The Purifying Blueberry & Turmeric Face Scrub has blueberry which contains Vitamins A & E to help keep skin smooth and soft while the turmeric helps to naturally calm, purify and tone problematic skin.
To keep my blemishes at bay, I use this Spot Treatment from Sky Organics 1-2 times a day. Made with a potent blend of botanical ingredients like black cumin seed and tea tree oils, and organic white willow bark extract, this spot treatment is a good natural salicylic acid alternative, to help reduce the look of blemishes. I also have their Clarifying Facial Toner and Bentonite Clay Detox Mask. I love that their entire collection is USDA certified organic, vegan and cruelty free. Look for them at select Whole Foods Stores starting July 20th.
HEALTH PICKS
Staying hydrated is especially important during these hot summer months which is why I made sure to pack a box of these HALO On the Go Hydration Powders for our trip. I use them often to replenish my body after a tough workout, but they came in clutch after spending hours outside at the pool. Love that this product is also safe for kids and pregnant/feeding moms too!
HALO’s proprietary blend of vitamins, minerals and trace minerals helps defeat dehydration with this low calorie, low sugar and crisp, refreshing taste. Each stick delivers only 15 calories and 1g of sugar, 1,200mg of Vitamin C to boost immunity, and B Vitamins to help maintain energy and support metabolism. You can support this female and minority owned business by purchasing their electrolyte hydration products on halosport.com. Use code: HALO20 for 20% off.
While at the resort, we took full advantage of the beautiful woody trails for early walks in the morning. It was such a sight for sore eyes! Thankfully, I brought my good walking shoes along with these Superfeet EVERYDAY Comfort insoles and felt like I could walk for days. That’s because the MEMORYCLOUD Memory foam has a contoured shape that cradles your heels and arches to provide extra support and comfort all day long. It’s easy to see why Superfeet is the leader in over-the-counter orthotics for the specialty run and everyday footwear.
SELF-CARE
Lastly, I dove into a new novel highly recommended by a dear friend. THE SECRET KEEPER OF JAIPUR by Alka Joshi is the sequel to THE HENNA ARTIST, but don’t worry – you don’t need to read that to enjoy this one. Written by New York Times bestselling author Alka Joshi, this colorful story talks about how henna artist Lakshmi arranges for her protégé, Malik, to intern at the Jaipur Palace in this tale rich in character, atmosphere, and lavish storytelling. Such a vibrant read!
