This weekend is Father’s Day and I have to take a minute to brag on this special guy here. I don’t give him enough credit for being the amazing husband and father he is.
Before we got married, I remembered my husband opening his heart to me on a very personal level. He told me that he was raised by a single mother and the closest father figure to him was Father Chuck, the local priest in his hometown. I remembered him telling me “I never had a father and I know I want to be one someday. But I don’t have anything to compare it to so maybe you’ll have to help me” and at that moment, I think my heart sunk into my chest…partly because I was sad that he had missed out on that, but more so because I KNEW he was going to be a great father someday.
Two years ago, our lives changed forever. Besides two other times I can recall in the 7+ years together, I have never seen my husband cry…I mean not like this. Shortly after Marli was born, I turned over to my husband in the hospital room and he was sobbing like a little baby. This grown man whom I had always viewed as my rock and the strong one in our relationship was so completely emotional and vulnerable. It completely caught me by surprise and was one of the sweetest moments I will never forget. His little baby girl had officially melted his heart.
It was always in our plans for me to return back to work, but God had other plans for us. With my mother getting ill, it just didn’t make sense for me to be away from Marli and her. So, I became a stay-at-home-mom and my sweet husband fully supported that, even though it wasn’t in our original plans.
The amount of hard work he puts in each day and the time we sometimes have to sacrifice is all for our family. Still, he makes time for us, even if it’s only a few minutes here and there and those are the best kinds of moments. Everything he does is for us and for that, I am so incredibly grateful.

On this Father’s Day, I hope you know how so very lucky Marli and I are! We love you so much and I think you are the BEST father Marli could ever ask for. Love you!
