My typical Monday workouts consist of a 45 minute HIIT cardio session on the treadmill (since it is way too hot to be running in this Houston weather) followed by some weight training. Let’s get real – anything over 20 minutes on a cardio machine is basically the death sentence for me so the ONLY way I can survive 45 minutes is to do it the HIIT way. By constantly changing up the pace (and sometimes incline), I am continuously challenging my body while also allowing for short periods of active rest. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again – HIIT blasts fat, burns calories, and also builds your endurance! Slow and steady is NOT the way to go here ladies.
There are so many sample cardio workouts – some focus on the speed while others focus on the incline. For me, I focus on building speed and here’s what my run is looking like right now. Like I said, I am ALWAYS dragging on Mondays so my “warm-ups” are usually about 10 minutes, but midweek, I perform a similar exercise in half the time with more intensity. I’ve really grown to enjoy my HIIT cardio on Mondays because it eases me into the rest of my week and I have seen an immense improvement in my endurance and speed which makes me so proud. (This is coming from a non-running mama who averages like a 9:30-10min mile on a good day.)

Do what works for u mama and tweak it as needed and slowly build up to it each week. U will amaze urself ๐
